The construction will provide critical flood protection to the 15-acre campus. Construction will include reinforced concrete floodwalls and vertically deployable flood barriers around the entire medical center complex, adjacent to New York Harbor. The scope also calls for additional floodproofing efforts, such as interior reinforced-waterproofed walls, flood doors and glass, flood gates, temporary access stairs, and underground pump stations.
